Ornata simplifies automation
No complex software. No new machinery. Just skilled operators on demand, using the equipment you already own.
Technology that works for you
-
We fit your machine with the communications and control hardware to enable our service. It's hidden away, and you turn it on and off with one button press. When you don't need our help, you wouldn't know it's there.

-
We work with you to survey your fields. By recording boundaries, obstacles and managed traffic lanes, survey data enables planning of the exact route the operator will take while completing each job. This provides additional safety layers that ensure our remote operations have lower risk than operating from the cab.

-
Our experienced operators ensure they understand your land, your equipment and your requirements. We build a database of your equipment and implements. Our technology combines this with survey data to prepare plans for every combination of implement and field — so when you call to start a job, a plan is ready to go.

-
Our service includes a connection to your Autonomist, to provide a consistent point of contact. Just call to let them know you need an operator, and they will ensure they have all the details we need to complete the job. Enable our hardware with one button press, and we will connect to your machine, and run the operation remotely.

-
Our technology enables your machine to be operated autonomously, with our human operators tracking the performance and progress remotely. This enables the efficiency to reduce costs, while ensuring small issues get sorted and you're kept informed on the details of the operation. For jobs that require co-ordination with the operator, like a header calling a chaser bin or refilling a sprayer, the operator is available through the phone (or radio if required), as if they are in the cab.

Our operations include

Spot spraying
Avoid long hours in the cab and capture more weather windows by using our remote operators for spot spraying.

Ground prep
Prepare paddocks efficiently and precisely, ready for the next stage of production, with our remote operators at the helm.

Blanket spraying
We manage spraying runs for maximum coverage and minimal overlap, giving you confidence every job is done right.

Spreading
Our operators keep every pass even and efficient, so you save on inputs and boost paddock performance.

Seeding
Our operators ensure consistent seed placement and depth, setting your crop up for a strong, uniform start, while you manage the logistics of the operation.

Chaser bin
We handle harvest logistics remotely, keeping grain flowing smoothly so your headers never stop moving.
Your questions answered
Why a service instead of just selling equipment?
Because farming isn’t just about machines, it's about decisions, logistics, planning, coordination and getting the details right. It’s about people. Our service model means you get access to skilled operators when you need them, without hiring, training, or worrying about turnover. It’s autonomy delivered like labour: simple, predictable, adaptable and immediately useful.
How do I work with your operators?
It’s as easy as working with your best farm hand. You describe the job over the phone, and our operators handle the rest. If plans change, they’re only a call away. No software to learn, no apps to configure. We can also integrate our system into your on farm UHF networks, so our operators work like one of your team.
Do I need to buy new tractors or implements?
No. Ornata retrofits the machines you already own to make them compatible with our service. We integrate with existing systems so you can extend the working life of your fleet while avoiding the capital outlay of adopting special purpose automated machinery.
What does it cost?
Our pricing is simple: There is a fixed cost to retrofit your machine for compatibility with the service, then you pay a monthly service fee for a set number of hours, with additional hours available on demand. The rate is designed to undercut the cost of traditional in-cab labour, but with on-call 24/7 availability, no leadtime, lower risk, and no HR overhead. Contact our team to discuss specific costs for your farm.
How is Ornata different from an automation company?
Automation companies sell hardware or software and expect farmers to adapt their operations to the technology, While learning how to program the systems themselves. Ornata is a service - we provide skilled operators on demand, using technology to deliver autonomy without the learning curve. Farmers don’t need to program machines, manage IT, or take on new operational risks.
What about safety?
Safety underpins everything we do. Our platform enforces strict protocols and our automation technology continuously monitors operations in real time to prevent incidents. The result: fewer accidents, less machine damage, and reduced downtime compared to traditional in-cab operations.
What happens if the internet goes down?
Machines on our service connect to our remote operators with satellite internet. With this technology we experience >99.5% connection uptime for the machines on our service. In the rare instances a machine is not able to connect to our service, it will safely come to a stop and wait for the operator to reestablish their connection.
How secure is the system?
Security is built in at every level. All communications are encrypted, and access is tightly controlled. Operators follow strict authentication protocols, and your machine data is never shared without your permission.
Can I still use the tractor from the cab after the retrofit is installed?
Yes! When our system is deactivated, it's isolated from the machine's controls, so it will function just like it always has. You can activate and deactivate our system with a turn of a key.
What happens if there is a hardware fault?
Our service includes unlimited warranty on the retrofit hardware. If things go wrong, our remote operations team can remotely diagnose where the fault is. Our hardware is designed to be modular, so we just provide you with a spare part and it plugs straight in.
Can your operators operate multiple machines at once?
Yes. Our operators can safely manage multiple machines simultaneously, supported by our software platform, and real time automation technology . This is the core mechanism that enables us to reduce cost per hour while providing better performance than an in-cab operator.
Seeding at Anchorage, Victoria’s Mallee
For this year’s seeding at the Anchorage property in Victoria’s Mallee, Rob used Ornata’s remote operations service to run his Case Steiger towing the Seedhawk. With Ornata’s remote operators driving the tractor, Rob focused on managing the logistics of the job, confident that machine operation was handled exactly to his requirements.

"The job was much quicker this year, It really changed how I run things. I was a lot less stressed because I knew the machine would keep running all day if something else come up"
